Former Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer spoke for the first time since being fired by the organization. Urban was fired at 12:35 a.m. on Thursday morning after the Jaguars started the season 2-11 and also had some drama in the locker room.
In an interview with Ian Rapoport, Urban had this to say,
“I just apologize to Jacksonville,” Meyer said over the phone on Friday from Florida. “I love Jacksonville. It's one of the reasons I took the job. I still think Shad's a great owner. It's heart-breaking. I just had a dream of it becoming a destination place with a new facility he agreed to build and some day to walk into that stadium where it's standing room only. Because I know how bad the people of Jacksonville want it. So, I'm just heartbroken that we weren't able to do that. I still believe it's going to be done. It's too good of a place.”
It was unfortunate with everything that happened in Jacksonville but it's tough to believe what Meyer is saying because of all the information that came out about what was going on in the locker room. From the team's disappointing play, locker room issues, coaching issues, and many other things, Jacksonville was in shambles and it was the right decision to get rid of Urban Meyer.
Jacksonville is going to look to finish the season off on a high note and try to win their last few games of the season.
