Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer is true to his team, despite their rocky start and a shiny job opening in the NCAA.

Longtime Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly shocked the Fighting Irish community with his resignation. Kelly left Notre Dame earlier this week to be the new head coach for Louisiana State University. That being said, there is now a hole in Notre Dame's coaching staff.

Now, the Jaguars coach has been brought up as a potential new head coach for the team. But Meyer isn't looking to give up on his NFL career just yet. According to ESPN's Michael DiRocco, he is not interested in returning to the college football coaching game and wants to continue working with the Jaguars. DiRocco also reported that Meyer's name was in the mix because he once called the head coaching job at Notre Dame his “dream job.”

But Meyer has his sights set on a new dream: rebuilding the Jacksonville Jaguars. The team has had a rough season so far with a losing record of 2-9. The Jags are last place in the AFC South and have no playoff potential this season. However, there is optimism for the team and incentive for Meyer to stay.

First, it's important to note that one of the team's two wins was against the 7-4 Buffalo Bills, a highly regarded team this season. Another strong suit for the Jaguars is rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Clearly he wasn't the sole answer for Jacksonville, but the first overall 2021 draft pick shows potential to lead this team for years to come.
