The Jacksonville Jaguars didn't have the season they envisioned of having but Gardner Minshew provided the fans a glimmer of hope for the future. The Jaguars' official Twitter account went on a rant about Minshew being left off of the list of nominees for the Pepsi Rookie of the Year Award.

The five nominees that were named were Nick Bosa, Josh Jacobs, A.J. Brown, Miles Sanders, and Kyler Murray. The rookie sixth-round pick of the Jaguars was near the top in every statistical category for rookie quarterbacks.

Minshew had the most wins (six) by a rookie quarterback despite only starting in 12 games in 2019. In addition, he finished the season with 3,271 yards, 21 touchdowns, and six interceptions with the Jaguars.

The Washington State product was second in passing yards among first-year quarterbacks. Only Murray of the Arizona Cardinals ended the season with more passing yards than Minshew.

Over the course of the season, Minshew was also named the Pepsi Rookie of the Week seven times in 2019. There wasn't another rookie in the NFL that received the title more than once.

To top it all off, Minshew orchestrated three game-winning drives for the Jaguars in the fourth quarter. Quarterbacks are typically given an advantage in awards in the NFL.

But this time around, only one rookie quarterback had their name mentioned as a nominee for the Pepsi Rookie of the Year Award. Despite being snubbed, Minshew appears to be a steal for the Jaguars at quarterback. At the least, he can say he has something that the other rookies don't have—a marketable mustache.
