The Jacksonville Jaguars seem to be gearing up for a run at Nick Foles, which is hardly surprising.

On Wednesday, the Jaguars hired John DeFilippo as their offensive coordinator. DeFilippo is very familiar with Foles, as he was the Philadelphia Eagles' quarterbacks coach last season when Foles led the team to its first ever Super Bowl title.

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk seems to think that the DeFilippo hiring is definitely a sign that the Jaguars are going to pursue Foles.

It's easy to connect the dots, and Florio also points out Foles' recent comments about the importance of relationships, saying that relationships are what make a strong team (via Mike Garafolo of NFL Network).

One thing is for sure: Jacksonville is in need of a quarterback.

The Jaguars went through two signal-callers in 2018, starting out the year with Blake Bortles before switching over to Cody Kessler during the second half of the season. However, Bortles then won his job back with two weeks remaining in the regular season.

Remember: just a year ago, Jacksonville went to the AFC Championship Game and came within a quarter of defeating the New England Patriots and advancing to the Super Bowl.

This year, though, the Jaguars went just 4-12, largely due to the ineptitude of their quarterbacks. That is not to say that Bortles was Jacksonville's only issue, because he surely wasn't, but getting a better quarterback would go a long way to helping fix the Jags' offensive problems.

Foles has a $20 million team option. The Eagles are expected to either let Foles walk or either bring him back via the option, or franchise tag then trade him. If the Eagles pick up Foles' option, he also has the ability to buy himself out of the deal for $2 million.
