Jake Paul shared his own take on the recent rematch bout between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier at UFC 257 back in late January. He claimed that it was “the worst loss” in UFC history and definitely made an impact on the stature of McGregor in the sport.

Per ES News via The Sun:

“That's the worst loss I think I've ever seen in the UFC.”

“From like a status perspective, like, it almost ruined his legacy.”

The Irishman was expected by many to return to the pinnacle of the lightweight division after having a long break away from the Octagon. However, things didn't go as planned as McGregor encountered a rude awakening in his highly anticipated match against Poirier.

McGregor received brutal leg kicks from Poirer all throughout the contest, which eventually opened an opportunity for his counterpart to deal him a TKO finish in the second round of the match.

After seeing how the second bout transpired, Jake Paul believes that a third match should go down between the two fighters. He admitted that it would serve as a must-win for McGregor in a bid to save his legacy as one of the greatest fighters in the UFC:

He continued: “Obviously, they're probably going to have a trilogy fight.”

“But if he loses that trilogy fight in the same way, Conor McGregor's legacy is over.”

Paul previously challenged the former UFC lightweight champion in the boxing ring before the rematch with Poirier. The 24-year-old internet sensation even trolled McGregor several times on social media in an effort to taunt him to accept the fight. Despite Paul's antics, no deal ever came to fruition between the two sides as McGregor opted to return to the Octagon to match up against Poirier instead.

Despite not getting the fight that he wanted, Jake Paul admitted that he still has the utmost respect for Conor McGregor:

He said: “I talk shit to Conor, but at the end of the day, I respect him.”

“I respect what he's built, I respect who he is. And he changed the game for every fighter in the future.”

We'll see if the two ever wind up going at it in an official capacity.
