Jake “The Problem Child” Paul has been boxing professionally for over a year now, but he might be forced to stop soon. The former YouTuber-turned-boxer revealed in an interview that he's been suffering from memory loss and slurred speech, and his doctors have told him to quit boxing before it's too late.
According to Paul, his history of playing football along with his current boxing career was the catalyst for his issues. (via The Sun)
“I got my brain scanned right before I started boxing and the doctor told me there’s lack of blood flow from the concussions I had playing football to certain areas on my brain… After my first year of boxing, I went back and it was worse… [The doctors] advice is don't do that sport. That's all they can advise as a doctor, I think before it was affecting me at a rapid pace because I never took it easy.”

Jake Paul's memory loss and slurring speech are classic signs of chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or CTE. CTE often arises from multiple subconcussive or concussive hits to the head, leading to impaired motor and other functions relating to the brain. Paul's football background and his return to boxing may have accelerated the development of CTE in his body.
Despite his doctor's precautions, Jake Paul is still preparing for his rematch against former UFC fighter Tyron Woodley. The former YouTube and Vine star has been using psychedelic drugs to combat CTE, saying that:
“I've talked to tons and tons of people about it and there's new research and science to combat against it, things like psychedelics and toad.”
