As the 2022 NFL season draws near, everyone is beginning to rank their top players as we head into the season. ESPN has upped the ante and done a position-by-position top 10 ranking before the season begins. And when they dropped their top 10 quarterbacks list, there was very notable omission in Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson. Many folks took note of this, including Los Angeles Rams star cornerback Jalen Ramsey.
Ramsey is often known for his trash-talk, but here he's dishing out praise for Jackson, who is widely getting overlooked after an injury-riddled 2021 season. Ramsey followed up a tweet from ESPN analyst Ryan Clark, who also disagreed with Jackson being left off the list, saying that Clark was right and that Jackson deserved to be included on the list.
Jalen Ramsey knows a good quarterback when he sees one. After all, he spends most of his time doing whatever he can to disrupt their passes. If he's giving Jackson this type of praise, chances are he deserves it.
It's also worth noting all that Jackson has accomplished despite a disappointing 2021 season. He won an MVP award in just his second year in the league, and his dual-threat ability has made the Ravens an unbelievably dangerous team. To rank a guy like Deshaun Watson, who didn't play at all last season and may not even play in 2022, ahead of Jackson just feels wrong.
Bulletin board material can do a lot for professional athletes when it comes to motivation, and Jackson should be motivated from being left off this list. While much of the league, including Jalen Ramsey, believe Jackson is a top 10 quarterback, he could use this list as motivation to prove that ESPN made a big mistake in leaving him off of it.
