On Sunday night, the Dallas Cowboys beat the Philadelphia Eagles in dramatic fashion. Dak Prescott found a wide open Jason Witten for the game-winning touchdown in overtime, and AT&T Stadium shook.

Joy flowed throughout the building, but the celebration apparently became a little sluggish on the field.

During his postgame press conference, head coach Jason Garrett rocked a large cut along the right side of his face. On Monday, Garrett revealed that it came courtesy of the guy who scored the winning TD, Jason Witten.

Friendly fire

From the Dallas Morning News:

“I think we had a big hug afterwards, and he had a helmet on and I didn't,” Garrett told the station. “It was pretty emotional out there. I think everybody was excited about it. Everybody kept looking at it like, ‘Coach, I think you've got a little something going on your face there.'”

“It was well worth it.”

Given that it occurred on the heels of a six-game winning streak, it's understandable that Garrett was jubilant despite the wound.

Later, Garrett went into more detail on the final play and the ensuing celebration:

“It was special, it really was. That play, Dak did such a great job keeping the play alive and he kept his eyes up and lo and behold there's Cowboys free in the end zone. And there he is, No. 82 one more time coming through in the clutch. And Dak delivers the strike. I think everybody on our team was so excited for Wit and stormed the field. It's like you're playing Little League baseball when the guy hits the home run to win the game. Guys were going nuts.
