With Danny Ainge’s return to an NBA front office now official, this could mean that there are some big changes in store for the Jazz ahead of this year’s NBA trade deadline. Given Ainge’s previous successes during his time as the Boston Celtics general manager, there’s no doubt that he’ll be able to repeat this success in Utah. especially considering that the Jazz have been a team that’s failed to advance past the Western Conference Semis over the past few seasons.

Now that the Jazz have added Ainge to their front office, this could mean that they’ll have a change of luck this season. In their continued efforts to win back the top-heavy West and bring the Larry O’Brien Trophy to Salt Lake City for the first time in franchise history, we’ll now take a look at three players the Jazz must trade for with Ainge now leading their front office.

Danny Ainge Jazz Trades

Josh Hart

As an athletic wing that’s playing for a New Orleans Pelicans squad who’s sunk to the bottom of the Western Conference, there’s no denying that Josh Hart is definitely due for a change of scenery. On the Jazz he’d be able to play for a contending team while having a lasting impact and providing them with additional depth on both ends of the court.

With Ainge’s ability to navigate the trade market and pull the trigger on big deals, this is a move that would benefit the Jazz greatly and add  another multi-skilled two way veteran to their elite guard rotation. It may not seem like it now, but taking a chance like this early into the season may prove to be a huge difference maker for Utah down the road.

Goran Dragic

Coming off a successful run playing with the Miami Heat, Goran Dragic is yet to see any playing time this season after being traded to the Toronto Raptors. A lot of it comes from personal reasons, but he may also be more inclined to suit up if he knows that he’s a major contributor on a legitimate contender.

Playing under innovative head coach Quinn Snyder, Dragic would excel coming off the bench and giving the Jazz a seasoned guard with NBA Finals experience that could give them an additional scoring punch and facilitator who would fit in perfectly with their style of play. If Ainge is serious about building a championship culture in Utah, then gunning for an accomplished NBA veteran like Dragic is a move he should strongly consider.

Eric Gordon

As one of the better scoring guards in the league, Eric Gordon definitely would do wonders for the Jazz. Not that they’re lacking 3-point shooting or perimeter scoring by any means, but getting some additional help in that area never hurts either. Currently playing on a Houston Rockets team that’s been in the midst of a brutal rebuilding process, Gordon is a savvy vet that would be better off playing on a team that’s going to be competing in this year’s NBA playoffs.

Plus with the Jazz hoping to take the next step this season and bull doze through the second round of the playoffs, adding an established 3-point shooter of Gordon’s caliber would do them a ton of justice. Not to mention his extensive postseason experience would payoff for Utah in more ways than one.
