With the NBA playoffs in full swing, discussions about this year's regular season awards have started to ramp up. Among the most highly-debated topics is that of which player should take home Rookie of the Year between Utah Jazz shooting guard Donovan Mitchell and Philadelphia 76ers point guard Ben Simmons.

It goes without saying that both players have made compelling case for themselves this season. As a result, Mitchell is getting some help from his sponsor Adidas in his campaign, per Eric Woodyard of the Deseret News:

Mitchell signed a multi-year deal with Adidas shortly after being taken with the 13th overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. He solidified the contract by dropping 37 points in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. Needless to say, both sides have managed to hold it down for each other ever since. This time, they managed to take advantage of Mitchell's argument as to the true definition of a rookie.

The former Louisville product quickly established himself as one of the best players in his class and never looked back. Mitchell finished the regular season leading all rookies in points, and three-pointers made. That said, his numbers are indicative of a player that could easily be awarded ROY with 20.5 points, 3.7 assists, and 1.5 steals per game. However, Simmons is also in the midst of a historic year himself and has been pegged as the year-long favorite to take home the honor. That said, it will be interesting to see how this year's award will be determined.
