The Utah Jazz released veteran forward Jeff Green on Monday, and franchise star Donovan Mitchell praised his former teammate with a short tribute video:

Mitchell commended Green for his time as teammates, but apparently not many felt that way, including Andy Larsen of The Salt Lake Tribune, who appeared to be critical of Green's attitude as a player coming off the bench in a now-deleted tweet.

Spida defended Green, noting he was beloved in the locker room:

Green played a limited role for the Jazz, perhaps the most limited of his career. He averaged 7.8 points and 2.7 rebounds through 18.4 minutes per game this season, though taking part in all 30 games played this season and even starting in two of them.

The 33-year-old was shooting a career-worst 38.5% from the field before his release, and it became clear that his game had started to slow down after playing in short but effective bursts in the last two seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Washington Wizards.

The Jazz waived Green to make room for Rayjon Tucker, a G League prospect who was undrafted out of Arkansas-Little Rock. Tucker is now poised to get a chance in the league after an impressive showing at the recent G League Showcase.

Green has career averages of 13.0 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.6 assists throughout a 12-year career in the league, one that almost came to a close in late 2011 when doctors discovered he suffered an aortic aneurysm, which caused him to miss the entire 2011–12 season.
