This iteration of the Utah Jazz seemed doomed for a while as they struggled down the stretch of the regular season and had rumors swirling around them about shaking things up in the future if there was no deep playoff run. Sure enough, the Jazz just lost to the Dallas Mavericks in six games, despite Luka Doncic not even playing in the first three games of the first-round series.

After the heartbreaking Game 6 loss, which saw Bojan Bogdanovic miss a wide-open 3-pointer to win, stars Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert addressed their futures with the franchise:

There has been plenty of speculation about the Mitchell-Gobert partnership in recent years. It's known they aren't exactly the best of friends, but they've tried to put aside their differences to help lead the Jazz on deep playoff runs. Unfortunately, this is now the third time in four seasons with a first-round playoff exit. Plus, last season saw the top-seeded Jazz fail in epic fashion in the second round against the Los Angeles Clippers. Now comes this loss against a Mavs team that didn't have Doncic for half the series.

The assumption is that Utah will look to shake things up in a big way, especially since there have been rumors about Mitchell wanting out. Will the Jazz trade one of their stars and retool around the other? Will they totally blow it up and trade both of them in order to start a full rebuild? Or will they somehow actually both be back? That last option seems untenable at this point, and it's going to be fascinating to see how Danny Ainge operates this offseason.
