The Utah Jazz will be one of the most heavily-watched teams throughout the rest of the NBA offseason, as the franchise navigates a potential Donovan Mitchell trade. Amid the madness that the emerging rumors have presented, the Jazz made an important roster move on Sunday. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Jazz have signed Italian hooper Simone Fontecchio to a two-year contract.

Fontecchio will be in Utah for two seasons and stands to collect $6.25 million throughout the duration of his deal. He's a highly touted winger, who was impressive for Baskonia in the Spanish ACB league. He started 11 games, appearing in 17 total, and posted season averages of 11.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game. He's an excellent scorer from outside of the paint, hitting 42.6 percent of his 3-point opportunities.

With so much uncertainty facing the Jazz, acquiring a quality winger like Fontecchio at a minimal cost is a great move. Of course, it remain to be seen how he'll translate from playing overseas to the NBA, but he's considered one of the top forwards in the international circuit. Danny Ainge is clearly intrigued by what he's seen of Fontecchio, enough so to hand the 26-year-old $6.25 million.

It'll be difficult for the Jazz to truly know the direction they're headed until a Donovan Mitchell trade materializes, or doesn't, but making smaller moves such as bringing Fonsecchio to Utah will certainly help balance out their roster in the meantime.

Until a Mitchell deal does go through, one way or the other, Jazz fans will be holding their breath as they await a clearer outlook on the future of the franchise.
