With the NBA's trade deadline approaching fast (Feb 7), several teams around the league are still searching for ways to bolster their rosters. One such team is the Utah Jazz, who are said to be interested in Clippers forward Tobias Harris.

Zach Lowe explained the situation in a recent article for ESPN. According to Lowe, the Jazz would have interest in Harris — if they have enough cap space:

Utah would forfeit a max salary slot in that deal. They could still have significant room depending on a few other variables, but probably not enough to add even a second-tier free agent such as Khris Middleton or Tobias Harris. (The Jazz would have interest in Harris if they save space, per league sources.)

Prior to the start of this season, several reports were released that indicated Harris “would be interested” in joining the Jazz. David Locke, who serves as Utah's radio voice, laid out the details in a Locked on Jazz podcast.

“I’ve even heard some other names of players, rumors that Tobias Harris would be interested,” Locke said in June. “It’s not outlandish that a player wants to come play here (in Utah).”

Whether or not the Jazz will be able to land Harris in a deal before this season's trade deadline remains to be seen, but it sounds like both sides have interest.

In his 54 appearances with the Clippers this season (all starts), Harris has racked up averages of 20.7 points on 49.3 percent shooting from the field (42.2 percent from beyond the arc), 7.9 rebounds, and 2.7 assists in 34.6 minutes per outing.

Harris will hit unrestricted free agency after this season. If a trade isn't made before the deadline, he would have to ride this season out with the Clippers, where he's become a fan favorite.
