Top rookies Grayson Allen and Trae Young got into a scuffle in the Summer League recently. As seen in the video below, Allen — the 21st overall pick by the Utah Jazz, was closely guarding Young — the fifth overall selection by the Dallas Mavericks but was then traded to the Atlanta Hawks for Luka Doncic.

Allen knows that Young is a marksman from downtown that's why he was sticking to him like a leech. But in the play, perhaps Allen was so close that he got entangled with Young which then led to a scuffle:

Good thing their teammates and the referees got in the middle immediately. The two received one technical foul each for their antics.

Back in his college days, Allen had a reputation for being the villain, mainly because of his overly aggressive plays. Critics and several opponents have tagged him as a “dirty player.” Allen is aware of such criticisms. Now that he's in the NBA, he wants to represent the Jazz in the right way. Per Eric Woodyard of Deseret News:

“I know I come from Duke and I want to continue to represent Duke in a good way, but now that I have a Utah Jazz uniform, I want to represent the Jazz in the right way,” Allen said. “Whether I’m polarizing, loved, hated, I don’t care. I admittingly did and I cared too much when I was at Duke but I’ve moved past it. The love for the game of basketball kind of gets rid of all that.”

Young, meanwhile, who has suited for a few Summer League games, quickly noticed the difference between the NBA and college ball. Per Michael Cunningham of Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Young said that the NBA is definitely more physical:

“It’s a lot more physical,” Young said after Tuesday’s game. “It’s different, but that’s how you want it. You want it to be competitive. This is all a learning experience. This is just my second game.”
