Fans of the New York Jets were excited to see Bill Cowher listed as someone that could unretire to accept the future vacancy in the Big Apple. Despite the rumors floating around, Cowher emphatically denied that he's interested in returning to coaching in the NFL, per ESPN's Rich Cimini.

“I have no interest in coaching,” Cowher said in a phone interview with ESPN.

Earlier this week, there were reports that Cowher could unretire and consider the future opening on the Jets. However, Cowher hasn't coached since 2006 and has no desire in returning to the sideline anytime soon.

Of course, with the embarrassing season that the Jets have had, Adam Gase is nearly a guarantee to be fired by season's end. Therefore, it's expected that New York will be among the handful of teams that are searching for a new head coach in the offseason.

With the Jets projected to have the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and an array of draft picks, the job in New York is actually pretty enticing given the fresh start. The potential to have Trevor Lawrence is something that could persuade coaching candidates to consider the job in New York.

There's no doubt that the Jets could use a proven coach to lead them out of the hole they've dug themselves into by hiring Gase. And a Hall of Famer in Cowher, despite being 63 years old, would be the perfect man for the job. But with Cowher content with his job on CBS Sports, New York will have to look elsewhere in finding a new head coach for the future, at least for now.
