New York Jets rookie quarterback Sam Darnold says he wants the Jets to finish the season strong. However, he and the rest of the Jets offense will face an uphill battle on Saturday against the Houston Texans with both his top rusher in Isaiah Crowell and his top receiver in Quincy Enunwa both ruled out, per Rich Cimini of ESPN.

Crowell has been dealing with a toe issue for the past few weeks and aggravated the injury in last Sunday’s win over the Buffalo Bills. He left the game due to “excruciating” pain after just two carries for five yards.

Crowell has rushed for 685 yards and six touchdowns in 13 games for the Jets this season. This will be the first missed game in Crowell’s five-year NFL career, ending his streak at 77 consecutive games.

With Crowell out, the Jets will have to rely on Elijah McGuire and rookie Trenton Cannon in the running game. McGuire, who’s dealing with a minor ankle injury of his own, played well against the Bills as he had 60 yards on 17 carries and a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Enunwa will miss out after suffering an ankle injury against the Bills. Enunwa had missed two games earlier in the season due to a high ankle sprain, but this current injury is to his other ankle.

Enunwa leads the Jets with 38 receptions for 449 yards and a touchdown. He is set to hit free agency after the season, although the Jets have reportedly begun contract talks with him.

With Enunwa out. Robby Anderson and Jermaine Kearse will have to step up and provide reliable receiving options for Darnold.
