New York Jets quarterback Josh McCown apparently has a huge fan in offensive coordinator John Morton. So much so, in fact, Morton is openly advocating for the National Football League franchise to go with the journeymen gunslinger for yet another season.

First, let's get the semantics out of the way. Not a soul on this planet yet knows if the people currently on staff will be around next season to help make these decisions for the Jets. That being said, let's get to the McCown love.

Todd Bowles said at his Thursday press conference that he’s not thinking far enough down the line to decide what the future holds for his quarterback position. On the flip side, offensive coordinator John Morton was willing to endorse a return for a player he called “perfect” for his offense.

“Sure. Why wouldn’t I?” Morton said, via the New York Daily News. “Look at the stats. But I don’t make that decision. You can ask the head coach that and the people upstairs.”

To be fair to Morton, what else was he going to say? It isn't like he was going to openly campaign for a different gunslinger while still trying to score points this season with the one he has.

Nevertheless, it must be good to be Josh McCown today. A career ho-hum signal-caller, who is receiving some pretty neat love from his offensive coordinator.
