After a three-year run with the Indianapolis Colts, New York Jets cornerback Quincy Wilson is ready to embrace a change in scenery.

The former Florida Gator landed in the Big Apple after he was traded by the Colts in exchange for the 211th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

“When I got traded, it was a good day,” said Wilson, who was acquired in a draft-day trade with the Colts. “It was probably one of the best days of my life. A lot of things went wrong in Indy, but I'm just happy for this new opportunity. This new situation I'm in is way better. I'm ready to show I can play.”

Before joining the Jets, Wilson encountered an up-and-down journey throughout his stay in Indianapolis. He was selected by the team with the 46th pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Despite being a second-rounder, then head coach Chuck Pagano named Wilson the third cornerback on the depth chart behind Vontae Davis and Rashaan Melvin.

In his rookie season, Wilson aggravated a knee injury he suffered during the preseason at the time of the Colts' Week 3 victory over the Cleveland Browns. He was sidelined and missed the following ten games from Weeks 3 to 12. He was able to come back later in the season but all was lost as the Colts ended with a 4-12 record and Pagano was fired at the end of the season.

The cornerback also saw limited action in the 2018 and 2019 seasons under new Colts head coach Frank Reich. Former Jets cornerbacks Trumaine Johnson and Darryl Roberts already left the team which leaves Wilson to compete with sophomore Blessuan Austin, fourth-year player Arthur Maulet, and former Colts teammate Nate Hairston, among others, for the starting spots.

Wilson will aim to grab the opportunity to possibly land the biggest break that he will get in his career thus far.
