The New York Jets have a tough Week 2 match against the Cleveland Browns. The game just got a lot tougher as Trevor Siemian is expected to start in Sam Darnold's absence.

Adam Schefter tweeted the news that had plenty of Jets fans groaning and shaking their heads.

They have found a quarterback that will take his spot in the meantime, and Schefter was also first to report it.

Darnold had to be sent home from team practice on Wednesday as he wasn't feeling well. This was not a situation head coach Adam Gase wanted to be in after suffering a bitter defeat to the Buffalo Bills in Week 1.

“He’s sick,” Gase said, per Brian Costello of the New York Post. “He was sent home by the training staff. He tried to come in and work today, and he’s still kind of contagious so we had to send him home.”

In all fairness, Siemian is not a bad quarterback. He played three seasons with the Denver Broncos, first as a backup for Peyton Manning's curtain call at Super Bowl 50. He threw a total of 5,686 yards in his two years of action before spending 2018 as a free agent.

While he is not a bad quarterback, they are facing a hungry Browns team. They suffered a humiliating loss to the Tennessee Titans and are looking to bounce back quickly.

With Darnold out, this is a chance for the Browns to take the win. Moreover, Jets fans cannot forget what Baker did to them in Week 3 last year.

He threw for 201 yards and 100.1 quarterback rating in his NFL debut. Meanwhile, Darnold was sacked twice and threw interceptions twice to blow a 14-point lead and end up with a terrible 38.2 quarterback score.

The Jets are without their franchise quarterback when they need him the most. It's also looking doubtful that Siemian can pull off a superb performance against the Browns.

If Gase doesn't come up with a brilliant tactic, the Jets fans will be in for a long night.
