Sam Darnold is expected to have the best season of his career in 2020 and he's turning to a former quarterback of the New York Jets to aid him. While working out on a beach this offseason, Darnold spent some time with Mark Sanchez.

Just watching the video, it appears that Darnold is attempting to improve his footwork. His footwork in the pocket has been one of a few aspects of his game that's caused him to struggle thus far in his career.

Similar to Darnold, Sanchez played his college football at USC and would be selected in the first round of the draft by the Jets. Therefore, it shouldn't be a surprise that the two quarterbacks have a working relationship off of the field.

Back in 2009, Sanchez was taken with the No. 5 pick in the draft. In his first two seasons with the Jets, Sanchez helped lead New York to back-to-back appearances in the AFC Championship game. Despite the criticism he receives, Sanchez was the last Jets quarterback to play in the postseason.

As for Darnold, he's entering the third season of his career after two mediocre seasons in New York. Altogether, the former Trojan has combined for 5,889 yards, 36 touchdowns, and 28 interceptions in his first two seasons. Last season, Darnold got off to a shaky start after discovering he had mononucleosis, causing him to miss three games.

Most fans would likely advise Darnold to refrain from working out with Sanchez due to the lack of production that Sanchez had in his career. However, if the workouts with Sanchez help Darnold improve, the fans may feel a bit differently next year.
