ESPN spent some time with Team USA before practice and had a hilarious light-hearted discussion about Jimmy Butler‘s credentials as an NFL talent.

In an ESPN video, Butler boldly proclaimed to a reporter that he would be a much better NFL receiver than Demaryius Thomas if he choose to play in the NFL.

I really love the game of football. I think I'm really good at it. I could probably take Demaryius Thomas' spot, Antonio Brown's spot. I told them they're lucky I'm playing in the Olympics, or I would be getting a franchise tag with one of their organizations.

Butler also said if he had to choose one player on Team USA to be an NFL player that it would be himself, and if any of his teammates were asked, they would pick him, barring they weren't haters.

Teammate Kevin Durant immediately disagreed, with similar comments he gave about Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, who said Russell Westbrook is not a superstar, although he was joking this time.

He's an idiot. Jimmy's an idiot.

Draymond Green who has calmed down and quieted since his last incident in public also chimed in.

Jimmy has no shot. Jimmy's not as good a receiver as the worst receiver in the NFL

Thomas happens to be Butler's favorite NFL player, and gave him a touchdown game ball, which he held as his confidence quickly waned after his teammates took turns tearing down his self evaluation.

Ah, I may have exaggerated a little bit about being better than Demaryius and Antonio, but, I mean they're not going to find out that I said this on camera, so what's it matter?

Thomas did find out because ESPN wouldn't leave him out of the fun, so he sent Butler a message back.

Man, he know better than that. He know better. That's like me saying I'm better at basketball than him.

Moral of the story, Butler should not quit his day job.
