On Tuesday, newly acquired Orlando Magic guard Jodie Meeks underwent surgery on his right foot and will be out indefinitely. The procedure was done to further stabilize the fifth metatarsal in his right foot.

Meeks was acquired from the Detroit Pistons on June 29 in exchange for a future conditional second-round draft pick. He only played three games last season, due to the right foot injury. He averaged 7.3 points,  1.7 rebounds. and 1.0 assist in 14.5 minutes per game.

Before being traded, Meeks spent two seasons in Motor City proceeded by two seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers. The former Kentucky Wildcat had proven to be more than a serviceable guard as he has career averages of 9.9 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game in his eight years as a pro. Most of all, it's his shooting from the beyond the arc that has made him valuable to the teams he has played for.

The Magic added him to their backcourt to add depth after trading Victor Oladipo to the Oklahoma City Thunder. With Meeks having no timetable for his return, it will be up to Elfrid Payton and D.J. Augustin to share the minutes at the point.
