Multi-awarded singer-songwriter Lil Nas X caused quite a stir on social media after he released his Satan-inspired shoes to the public. UFC star Jon Jones was the latest personality to voice his disappointment regarding the concept of the sneakers and even threatened to completely disassociate himself from the Nike brand.
“Tomorrow morning I’m going to burn all my Nike shoes, you will never catch me in that sh*t again,” Jones tweeted.
Fortunately for Jon Jones, a fan informed him that the sneaker giant didn't have any role in the production of the shoe and is even filing a lawsuit to stop the sale.
“OK, now I’m seeing there is a lawsuit,” Jones added a short time later … “Glad to know Nike isn’t behind this bulls**t.”

Lil Nas X collaborated with a company named MSCHF to produce the Satan-inspired colorway of Nike Air Max 97s. Each shoe was decorated with the pentagram symbol, a Bible verse referencing the devil, and even included a drop of blood from an MSCHF employee.
There are only 666 pairs that were put on sale and are tagged at a steep price of $1,018 each. Despite the huge cost, the pairs reportedly sold out in under a minute of its release. The digits were also used in reference to the verse Luke 10:18 which detailed Satan's banishment from heaven.
The reaction of Jon Jones was completely understandable as he is indeed a proud Christian — a side of him that he regularly exhibits on social media. He is even sporting a ‘Philippians 4:13' tattoo across his chest that further amplifies his religious beliefs.
Apart from Jone Jones, other well-known athletes in former NBA veteran Nick Young and Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence also expressed their concerns about the controversial idea behind the shoe.
