Miami Heat swingman Josh Richardson has been cleared by team doctors to make his season debut tonight on the road against the Toronto Raptors, after sustaining an MCL tear in September, sources told Shams Charania of The Vertical.

Richardson is ahead of new signing Dion Waiters in the team's depth chart, but will likely be brought along slowly since ligament tears can be frustrating when it comes to regaining full elasticity in the joint.

The Tennessee product can see time at shooting guard and small forward due to his length and defensive instincts — making sharing the court with Waiters a definite possibility.

Josh Richardson averaged 11.7 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and two three-pointers per game, playing over 30 minutes a night during the last 19 games of the 2015-16 season.
