Chiefs Wild Card playoff game predictions vs. Steelers

4. Patrick Mahomes will utilize Chiefs' aerial assault to perfection

Having deep threats like Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, and Mecole Hardman at his disposal will enable Patrick Mahomes to have his way with Pittsburgh's secondary and light up the scoreboard with a wide combination of passes while seamlessly moving the ball around. T.J. Watt will look to wreak havoc on Mahomes, but the Chiefs quarterback will be ready.

Now that Mahomes has snapped out of his midseason funk and ended his regular season on a high note, the Chiefs have looked as dominant as ever and have been playing at a highly efficient level for a while now. Be on the lookout for another memorable performance from Mahomes on Sunday night.

3. Tyrann Mathieu and Daniel Sorenson will be defensive anchors

As a couple of seasoned NFL veterans with a ton of postseason experience, the Chiefs will look to these two defensive stalwarts to set the tone for them early on and disrupt the Steelers' mediocre passing game. In previous playoff runs, both Mathieu and Sorenson have come up with big plays to help the Chiefs seal crucial wins.

During their pivotal matchup with the Steelers in the Wild Card round, Kansas City will need Mathieu and Sorenson to bring their A-game and lead their secondary by example. Given their previous successes and killer work ethic, this shouldn't be a difficult task for either of them to handle against Pittsburgh.

2. Jerick McKinnon will have a career rushing day

After enduring an injury-plagued tenure with the San Francisco 49ers, Jerick McKinnon has found new life playing with the Chiefs this season and in recent weeks has shown flashes of his former self. If the Chiefs want to dominate from the get-go, they'll need a balanced attack on offense. McKinnon will need to give them a huge boost coming out of the backfield with Clyde Edwards-Helaire banged up.

As a lightning-fast halfback who's a fierce competitor, McKinnon is bound to have a huge night against the Steelers and be a major contributor to Kansas City's rout of Pittsburgh in the Wild Card Round of the 2022 NFL Playoffs. McKinnon continually resurrecting his career as a premier running back will be something to look out for this weekend.

1. The Chiefs will win big and advance

Despite all the shortcomings and hardships that they experienced earlier in the year, the Chiefs were able to right the ship and turn things around in the second half of the season and win another AFC West title to finish off their season on the right foot. Now that they'll be riding this momentum into the first round of the AFC Playoffs, the Chiefs are determined to power through and continue their streak of dominance with a big win against the tough-minded Steelers. Their depth and consistency on both ends of the field is what will propel them to a lopsided win, similar to what happened when these teams played in Week 16.
