The Kansas Jayhawks program got a massive boost historically, winning the NCAA Championship in the greatest comeback in tournament final history. They erased a 16-point deficit in beating fellow blue blood program North Carolina. The biggest reason for the team’s success last season was the play of Ochai Agbaji.

In a heartfelt message, the Kansas superstar thanked the fans and family of the program.

“From start to finish, this entire season felt like it had been scripted. A season I’ll remember forever. One I’ll never take for granted. But before I put my collegiate career in the rearview and look to the future, I want to thank some of the people who helped me on the road to success, my family, my teammates, my coaches and of course – Jayhawk Nation. No matter where basketball takes me – I’ll always be a Jayhawk. With that said, I would like to declare for the 2022 NBA Draft. Rock Chalk Forever.”

Agbaji led Kansas with 18.8 points per game, and ended up winning the Big 12 Player of the Year. The Jayhawks earned a #1 seed in the NCAA Tournament and was the most consistent team throughout. However, in the title game, the Tar Heels crushed the Jayhawks on the glass in the first half. Agbaji was completely bottled up and Kansas could not get anything going offensively.

In the matter of a few minutes in the second half, Kansas had erased the massive deficit and taken the lead. The game came down to the final minutes, and Kansas big man David McCormack hit two of the biggest shots in Kansas basketball history.
