Following his promising showing towards the end of the regular season, Ivica Zubac has made a lot fans believe that he can be a part of the Los Angeles Lakers‘ future plans.

After spending time in the D-League, the 20-year-old Croatian international played 11 solid games for the the team where he averaged decent numbers of 7.5 points and 4.2 rebounds in 16.0 minutes per outing. He was even able to showcase his ability to score using the skyhook, which was the move made famous by NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

The Laker great apparently saw Zubac use his signature shot during games, which caught his attention. He recently spoke with Mark Medina of the Orange County Register and gave his thoughts on how the young rookie executed it. The six-time NBA champion then revealed that he is willing to mentor him and help Zubac become a better player.

“He’s equipped to use it well. He has the length to begin with. If he can develop his shooting touch and agility, he’ll use it well.”

Zubac can consider himself lucky that the Hall of Famer made it known that he wants to take him under his wings. Not a lot of players will have that opportunity, and it won't be a hard decision for him to accept it. Should he indeed get the chance to learn from one of the all-time greats, it can only help speed up the development of his game.
