Minnesota Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns has been chosen as the face of NBA 2K17‘s mobile app.

The reigning Rookie of the Year will be the cover athlete for MyNBA 2K17, a mobile app that connects players to the console version of the game.

The app features a facial scanning feature, allowing those without a Microsoft Kinect (Xbox One) or PlayStation Eye (PS4) to get their likeness into the game.

The 2K franchise has been the clear leader of the gaming basketball world, having left the much-familiar NBA Live franchise in the way-back-when machine.

“I've been a dedicated NBA 2K fan since I was young, and being selected as the face of MyNBA 2K17 is an incredible milestone this early in my career,” Towns said on Wednesday to the Associated Press.

“Playing MyNB A2K and NBA 2K is an essential part of my offseason and keeps me grounded during the season with all my travel. I love that I will have the opportunity to connect further with my fans through MyNBA2K17.”

The Kentucky product has been one the youngest endorsed by the gaming company since Derrick Rose with the NBA 2K10 Draft Combine release.

The NBA 2K17 mobile cover boy had a monster rookie season, posting averages of 18.4 points, 10.5 rebounds, 1.7 blocks per game while shooting a crisp 81 percent from the line.
