Minnesota Timberwolves star big man Karl-Anthony Towns is already a beast on the basketball court, but apparently he's also a monster out on the golf course. Towns says he can drive the ball over 400 yards, essentially making him the next Happy Gilmore out there on the links.

One of the PGA Tour's heaviest hitters, Bryson DeChambeau, has taken notice of KAT's prowess with the sticks. DeChambeau seems to be a little worried about becoming “obsolete” thanks to Karl-Anthony Towns' big drives.

Via Jace Frederick of the Pioneer Press:

“Once you get somebody out here that’s a 7-foot-tall human being and they are able to swing a golf club at 145 miles an hour effortlessly, that’s when things get a little interesting,” Bryson DeChambeau said of Karl-Anthony Towns. “That’s when I’m going to become obsolete, potentially.”

Now, for KAT to become a successful golfer, he obviously needs more than just the ability to hit the long ball. For one, those long balls need to consistently go straight. And, of course, the short game must be mastered. Happy Gilmore needed to learn how to putt to beat Shooter McGavin and win that coveted gold jacket.

Bryson DeChambeau doesn't actually need to worry about Karl-Anthony Towns making him obsolete on the golf course, but it would be amazing to see them duel in a longest drive competition. Just imagine these two goliaths launching missiles all over the driving range as they try to one-up each other. Watching DeChambeau on the range is often a spectacle in itself, so adding KAT to the mix would only make it that much more exciting.

While we can dream of this, Timberwolves fans are also looking forward to KAT racking up more wins on the court. Minnesota has looked a bit better lately to close a disappointing season, but perhaps this will set the stage for a much-improved 2021-22 campaign.
