Metta World Peace has established himself as a hard-nosed and rugged defender over his 17-year NBA career. He may no longer be playing heavy minutes for his team, but he is still providing the Los Angeles Lakers with solid veteran presence, especially given his reputation.

However, a former league enforcer recently ripped World Peace for cherry-picking those he would intimidate. Kenyon Martin took to The Players' Tribune and made a piece, with the title “The 5 Guys Everybody Hated Playing Against,” which included the Lakers forward. He explained why he feels he is not as tough as how others see him and even cited the “Malice at the Palace” as a prime example of him taking the “sucker way out.”

“Everything he’s done has been calculated. The thing about the whole ‘Malice at the Palace' thing – people tend to forget how it all started. If he wanted problems with Ben Wallace, he would have fought Ben Wallace. Ben Wallace was the one that pushed Ron and instead of retaliating, Ron chose to run into the stands. He took the sucker move out.”

The former Defensive Player of the Year is no stranger to scuffles during games as he has been involved in a number of those throughout his career, He also showed that he is not afraid of going up against the biggest stars of the league and made it difficult for them to score against him, even if it resulted to some skirmishes.

Although it's difficult to prove Martin's comments, he has certainly grabbed a lot of people's attention with his claim. Given Metta World Peace's history of firing back at his critics, it won't be surprising if he responds to him and defends himself anytime soon.
