Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant didn't rule out a possible return to Seattle after being drafted No. 2 overall by the SuperSonics in the 2007 NBA Draft. Durant played only one season in green and gold before the franchise relocated to Oklahoma City and changed its name to the Thunder, where he played for the next eight seasons prior to joining Golden State as a free agent in 2016.

“I feel like they deserved to see me grow up in the league,” Durant said of Sonics fans during the second part of a Q&A session in The Bill Simmons Podcast.

The Sonics had a 41-year history before being moved to Oklahoma City, a past that has had many Seattleites craving a team in their city once again.

Most recently, with talks of further expansion, the city could garner the team they have lacked for a near-decade — one which Durant could join sometime before the end of his career.

“You feel for them when it comes to that, but you never know what happens on the business side,” Durant offered about the fans having to detach from him and the newly-drafted Russell Westbrook. “Who knows what went on with that. But from a fan's standpoint, I think from seeing us that first year and seeing the start, that’s when [GM Sam Presti] got there. I feel like they deserve to see some of that through a little bit.”
