Khabib Nurmagomedov ruled over the UFC lightweight for only a short time but he certainly left his mark on the division, as can be seen at UFC 269. He fought Dustin Poirier but did not have the chance to compete against current champion Charles Oliveira.

Khabib Nurmagomedov still gives his thoughts on the lightweight division and gave his take on the upcoming title fight at UFC 269. He believes that the fight is extremely close.

“I have it 60/40 Dustin Poirier because of his cardio and heart,” Nurmagomedov told ESPN about the UFC 269 title fight. “Charles is a very, very dangerous opponent. Right now, he’s a real champion. He has a nine [fight] win streak, he beat Tony Ferguson, he finished eight [other] guys.

“It’s a very interesting fight for me, but I think it’s 60/40 Dustin Poirier.”

The fight at UFC 269 is an interesting one as many people see Dustin Poirier as a striker and Charles Oliveira as a grappler. The fight is much more complicated than that and both men have many ways to win the fight.

“This guy is a real finisher,” Nurmagomedov said of Oliveira. “He’s very dangerous. I think if Dustin Poirier can take him to the deep ocean like he told us, I think he’s gonna win. If he [rushes], I think Charles Oliveira has a chance to win.”

UFC 269 is a very exciting event that will see the champion Charles Oliveira defend the lightweight belt against Dustin Poirier on Saturday. The whole card is filled with very exciting matchups and will be very helpful for many divisions to discover new contenders.
