A closely contested home game gave Sacramento Kings guard Bogdan Bogdanovic the green light for his shining moment, knocking down the game-winning 3-pointer against the Los Angeles Lakers as time expired — a shot he knew he'd make as soon as it left his fingers.

Head coach Dave Joerger drew the play for his bench cog, penning what might be the most celebrated moment of the Kings' season.

“I said ‘Bogi, you’re going to get it right here, knock this in,’” Joerger said to Bogdanovic, according to James Ham of NBC Sports Bay Area.

The Lakers, playing without an injured LeBron James, found themselves up 116-114 in the dying seconds of the fourth quarter after Brandon Ingram split a pair of free throws. Bogdanovic received an inbounds pass from Nemanja Bjelica, took on a former Defensive Player of the Year in the 7-foot-1 Tyson Chandle, and did not hesitate to launch a 27-foot 3-point bomb to stun the Lakers.

“Yeah, that was the play,” Bogdanovic said. “That is the practice shot; two dribble pull-up, right step back and shot. Sometimes it goes in, sometimes goes out. Tonight was in.”

In true marksman fashion, Bogdanovic could be seen heading toward his bench as soon as the shot left his fingers, a true sign of confidence knowing the ball was going in once he let it fly.

“Oh yeah, as soon as I released it, I know,” a smiling Bogdanovic said. “I was running back and I saw it was coming.”

The 26-year-old scored 12 of his 23 points in the fourth quarter, receiving the mob treatment from his teammates after nabbing a win from the visiting Lakers.

“That’s a shot I’ve really worked on,” Bogdanovic said. “I always believe nothing comes from luck and everything comes from hard work and dedication. Teammates and coaches still believe in me, even if I missed two shots before that, and they still drew the play up for me. I knew I was scoring that.”

This time around, it paid off for the Serbian international, who waited for his chance and delivered.
