After stringing a couple of wins this preseason, the Sacramento Kings are looking sharper than last year's display. Star point guard De'Aaron Fox makes a bold prediction on rookie Davion Mitchell's gameplay.

“When he’s locked in on the ball, it’s like … it’s crazy to watch,” Fox told reporters. “The way he’s able to stop and go, s**t hurts me leg just watching, but he’s such a great on-ball defender. Like, in the league right now, he’s top-five, I’d say, on-ball defenders in the league right now and when you watch him, it’s just amazing.”

Fox's statement saying that Mitchell is a top-five on-ball defender, can be considered as a wild proclamation, given that he has not played his first NBA regular-season game.

However, the 23-year old's collegiate accolades and on-court experience speak volumes about what type of player he can be, after notably winning the Naismith Men's Defensive Player of the Year Award.

The Kings have not made the playoffs since the 2005-2006 season, making fans desperate for change and progress within the organization.

Despite Fox averaging 25.2 points to go with 7.2 assists a game last season, his team ended up finishing 12th overall in the standings. Needless to say, the Kings will need more firepower that can also come from the defensive end.

As the Western Conference is loaded in talent, Sacramento's chances for a playoff spot may be a longshot for now, but fans should be eager to see how Mitchell's game can translate to the team's success.
