The Sacramento Kings have agreed to a deal with three-year forward Nemanja Bjelica, per Yahoo Sports' Shams Charania.
Forward Nemanja Bjelica has agreed to a three-year, $20.5M deal with the Sacramento Kings, league sources tell Yahoo. Third year will be non-guaranteed.
Bjelica puts an end to his crazy free agency that saw him almost sign with the Philadelphia 76ers to almost moving back to Europe until the Kings entered the picture.
The 6-foot-10 forward had spent his entire NBA career with the Minnesota Timberwolves where he averaged 6.1 points and 3.8 rebounds in 192 total games. He carved a niche in the Timberwolves' rotation as an efficient stretch four.
To recall, Bjelica had initially agreed to a one-year $4.4 million deal with Philadelphia early in the offseason. However, things took an unexpected turn as he backed out of the contract, citing personal reasons. In Sacramento, he'll not only earn more but also enjoy some semblance of personal stability.
He won't be experiencing the same amount of team success he could have had with the Sixers, but he'll have an opportunity to expand his game in a team that is still trying to find an identity.
Bjelica will be joining a young core that highlights lottery picks Marvin Bagley, De'Aaron Fox, Buddy Hield, and Willie Cauley-Stein.
