Newly-signed Sacramento Kings forward Zach Randolph has grabbed headlines this summer for all the wrong reasons, after he was arrested for possession of marijuana in August. He was charged with two misdemeanor counts from the arrest and even faced a potential ban from the NBA.

After a month, however, the issues were resolved, with Randolph punished with 150 hours of community service following a plea deal to completely drop the case.

Randolph's agent and lawyer, Raymond Brothers, has been adamant that his client was innocent right from the start, reiterating it in a statement released after his sentence was given.

“As we have said from the beginning, the reports regarding Zach Randolph were false and misleading,” Brothers said, according to TNT's David Aldridge.  “After being accused of marijuana possession, all charges have been dropped. He was never arrested with any marijuana in or on his possession. He has been cited for delaying a police officer. It's defamatory for someone to say anything to the contrary.”

The Kings signed Randolph to a two-year, $24 million deal in July, so this conclusion should give them and their fans a huge sigh of relief.

It’s also great for Randolph that his case was addressed quickly and before training camp as he can now focus on the upcoming NBA season without any distractions.
