Zach Randolph will have to wait a little longer to make his Sacramento Kings debut. The veteran forward will miss the team’s season opener against the Houston Rockets on Wednesday night due to oral surgery, James Ham of NBC Sports reports.

Randolph, 36, signed with the Kings on a two-year, $24 million deal in free agency this offseason. He averaged 14.1 points and 8.2 rebounds in 24.5 minutes as a sixth man for the Grizzlies last season.

Randolph made headlines this summer when he was charged with marijuana possession and resisting arrest. However, he was able to avoid jail time as the charges were dismissed.

With Randolph out, the Kings will likely start Skal Labissiere at power forward. The second-year player came on strong during his rookie campaign as he got more playing time following the departure of DeMarcus Cousins.

Labissiere had one of his best games of the year against the Rockets. He put up 25 points on 10-of-12 shooting with six rebounds, three assists, and two steals in their meeting in the last week of the regular season.

Willie Cauley-Stein will likely back up Labissiere at power forward with Randolph absent and rookie Harry Giles still nowhere near ready to play.

The Kings' next game will be on the road against the Dallas Mavericks on Friday, Oct. 20.
