There's a substantial disconnect between the Sacramento Kings’ front office and head coach Dave Joerger pertaining to the franchise’s priorities and direction moving forward, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.

Although the Kings have surprised many and are off to an impressive start to the season, the brass in Sacramento is not happy with how Dave Joerger has handled the depth chart and minutes of the younger players on the team.

Joerger’s handling of 2018 No. 2 overall pick Marvin Bagley III could eventually lead to the coach’s dismissal, league sources told Yahoo Sports. Sources said the franchise is growing frustrated with how Joerger is distributing minutes and assigning roles to the team’s young prospects.

There has been frustration from Kings players over inconsistent roles, sources said, and they have grown exasperated by the lack of communication from Joerger about their future and limited minutes.

So essentially what is happening here is that Dave Joerger wants to win as many games as possible and trusts his veteran players more than the younger guys, while upper management wants to develop Bagley III, Skal Labissiere, and Harry Giles so that those three will be ready to play with point guard De’Aaron Fox and shooting guard Buddy Hield.

Dave Joerger is one of the smartest coaches in the game, but it looks like he's on the hot seat in Sacramento. This is a situation to pay attention to very closely now.

Kings general manager Vlade Divac did release a statement expressing his support for Joerger.

“Dave has our full support and confidence. We continue to work together to develop our young core and compete.”
