Joe Johnson is currently part of the Sacramento Kings organization, but do not expect him to wear a Kings jersey ever. As originally reported by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Joe Johnson was traded to the Sacramento Kings earlier today. As part of a three-team trade, the Cleveland Cavaliers acquired George Hill (Kings) and Rodney Hood (Jazz), the Kings got Johnson (Jazz), Iman Shumpert (Cavs), and a 2020 second-round pick (Miami, via Cavs), while the Utah Jazz added Jae Crowder (Cavs) and Derrick Rose (Cavs) to their roster.

According to Chris Manixx from Yahoo! Sports, Johnson is expected to immediately start buyout talks with the Kings; Sacramento would hardly oppose any resistance. Johnson will look to join a championship contender, and both the Boston Celtics and the Golden State Warriors appear to be frontrunners to get the 17-year veteran.

In a separate report, David Aldridge informs the Rockets are very interested in Johnson's services: “Rockets have been, and are, very interested in Joe Johnson as a potential add, and have been working on the assumption that he’d be available one way or the other after trade deadline, per source.”

Johnson's role with the Jazz had diminished notably this season after being a key part of the team's playoffs run last year. In 32 games with Utah (three starts), Johnson averaged 7.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.4 assists with 42 percent shooting from the field and 27.4 percent shooting from behind the three-point line. Despite his advanced age, Iso Joe is still a capable contributor off a playoff team's bench. Johnson will be 37 by the time this year's free agency period start, so this may be one of, if not the last opportunity he has to compete for a championship ring. A seven-time NBA All-Star, Johnson has never won an NBA championship.
