The 2022 NBA Draft is quickly nearing, with the Sacramento Kings set to pick at No. 4 on Thursday. There have been some rumors that the organization could trade their selection in order to acquire a proven player to immediately come in and help them get better, most notably Atlanta Hawks star John Collins.
But, according to Shams, the Kings are expected to keep their pick and have put a steep asking price on it.
The Kings are becoming increasingly comfortable drafting at No. 4 in Thursday’s draft and have described a steep price for teams behind them in the lottery who are attempting to trade up, sources said. Sacramento general manager Monte McNair has engaged in conversations around Hawks forward John Collins — among a slew of other established, productive players in the market — but there has been no involvement of the No. 4 pick in the discussions centered on Collins, and McNair will ultimately make the decision on the pick, according to sources.
The Kings are expected to either take Purdue standout Jaden Ivey or Iowa State star Keegan Murray at #4. However, recent reports indicate Sacramento isn't one of Ivey's favorite landing spots because of how guard-heavy the roster is, which could result in the franchise drafting Murray instead if he's available by the time they're on the clock.

Sac-Town needs more wings and Murray certainly fits the bill. He's also an imposing figure down low and could be the perfect addition to space the floor for Domantas Sabonis and De'Aaron Fox.
There is also still the possibility the Kings do try and trade for a star, but the Hawks in particular would almost certainly want a lot for Collins.
We'll see what happens later this week.
