Former New York Knicks big man Charles Oakley tweeted, “Culture is everything” when the Kristaps Porzingis trade was announced on Thursday, but he then deleted it.

Oakley's relationship with the Knicks has been fractured ever since the incident, which took place at Madison Square Garden in February of 2017. Oakley shoved MSG security and was arrested. He has since been banned from The Garden for a year.

Kristaps Porzingis reportedly wanted out of New York because of the toxic and losing culture the Knicks had. It looks like Charles Oakley was right all along.

The Dallas Mavericks acquired Kristaps Porzingis, guards Tim Hardaway Jr. and Courtney Lee from New York. The Knicks are getting point guard Dennis Smith Jr., center DeAndre Jordan, and small forward Wesley Matthews.

Charles Oakley played 10 seasons in New York and he was always a fan favorite. That's why his banishment from Madison Square Garden wasn't well-received by the fan base. Then again, everything owner James Dolan does irks the fans in the Big Apple.

Kristaps Porzingis will finish his Knicks career with averages of 17.8 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 186 games. New York drafted KP with the fourth overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft. Ex-president Phil Jackson made the pick.
