The New York Knicks are in dire need of something—anything—amid their skidding season. What was touted as a level-up campaign after their inspired run last year has turned into, well, a very Knicks-esque experience.

The extended absence of Knicks guard Derrick Rose, arguably the most beloved of all the players on the roster, hasn't helped. He underwent ankle surgery and it remains unclear when he'll return to action. His laundry list of injuries isn't exactly uplifting for a spiraling squad, but according to New York Post's Marc Berman, Rose expressed confidence that he could return sooner than expected.

When asked directly if he has a return date in mind, Rose said, “A little bit after All-Star. Taking my time still. It sucks right now. I had to get my mind right for this grind. I’ve been here numerous times.”

Berman pointed out that they're Rose's first public comments after going under the knife last December 22, so Knicks fans should get pretty pumped up. Although realistically, that's hard for them to do these days.

Rose was diagnosed to be out for at least eight weeks, but it seems he's ahead of schedule. After all, he's not exactly new to this.

“It sucks, but at the same time, I was prepping myself for this grind. After I found out, I had to change my mindset to get right for it. It is my fifth, sixth rehab. I can’t complain, can’t bitch about it. I just have to get it done.”

The Knicks are 23-27 for 12th place in the Eastern Conference.
