New York Knicks big man Jericho Sims had unarguably the best dunk of the Summer League so far when he soared for a thunderous jam on Friday against the Golden State Warriors. It was so good that even RJ Barrett couldn't believe it.
Late in the fourth quarter of the showdown, Sims found a clear path to the basket for the slam. He received the lob at that moment and didn't waste his chance, making most of the opportunity by throwing down a massive two-handed dunk.
Aside from the brute force he showed for the slam, the elevation was simply incredible. It looked like he was flying, as he slammed the ball with ease.
After witnessing such athletic feat, Barrett took to Twitter to share he's convinced that Barrett is “not human.”
RJ Barrett couldn't have said it any better for sure. There is just no other words to describe it rather than being a dunk that is truly out of this world.
Even better, it was the perfect icing on what was an amazing double-double night for Jericho Sims. The 23-year-old put up 16 points and 10 rebounds on top of two blocks to help the Knicks beta the Warriors 101-88.
Sims struggled for playing time with the Knicks in 2021-22. While he did get some starts late in the season, he didn't actually play in a lot of meaningful games. However, f he continues to improve and show New York his full potential, it's not hard to see him earning more minutes under head coach Tom Thibodeau.
Who knows, by 2022-23, it might be Barrett sending the ball on Sims' way for the slam.
