The New York Knicks are beginning their preseason schedule on Friday against the Detroit Pistons and it's evident that RJ Barrett is a bit rusty. Early in the first quarter, Barrett got off to a terrible 0-5 start, missing three three-pointers in the process.

In the highlight shown — or lowlight — Barrett appears to have a wide-open three-point shot on the wing. The defense of the Pistons seemingly dared him to take the shot and Barrett obliged by missing yet again.
Shooting, and with efficiency, is something that the Knicks are hoping to see from Barrett in his second season in the NBA. In his rookie season, the Duke product notched 14.3 points and five rebounds per game while shooting a dismal 40.2 percent from the field.

Also, Barrett would fail to show consistency on the outside, shooting a woeful 32 percent from three-point range. Despite his struggles, there is still optimism from the Knicks that Barrett can prove why he was the No. 3 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.
Given his ability to create with the ball, New York wants the ball in Barrett's hands as much as possible. However, they also want him to show that he can be a contributor on the floor when he isn't distributing the ball.
Of course, with it being preseason, there shouldn't be too much concern from fans of the Knicks seeing Barrett struggle with his jump shot. On the other hand, if his inability to shoot trickles into the regular season, there are going to be some tireless fans criticizing him.
