Vince Carter knows Trae Young really well, having played with him on the Atlanta Hawks in the past two seasons before his retirement. With that said, Carter admits the New York Knicks have only one option to stop the young sharpshooter in their playoff series.

In his latest appearance on The Jump, the panel was asked about what the Knicks need to do in Game 2 after losing the opener of their first-round clash. For Carter, the secret relies on making life hard for Young early on to prevent him from going hot in the game.

“You want to trap Trae Young early. As soon as you see the screen, jump the pick and make him get rid of the ball,” Vince Carter explained.

To recall, Young punished the Knicks in Game 1, scoring 32 points including the game-winning floater that broke the hearts of Spike Lee and everyone in attendance in Madison Square Garden. the Hawks star basically saw everything go his way, even recording seven rebounds and 10 assists in the tightly contested affair.

Of course, the Knicks are already expected to make adjustments on Wednesday. All-Star forward and recently awarded Most Improved Player of the Year Julius Randle did not have the best game the last time out, so he is expected to be more aggressive moving forward.

The defense on Young is also predicted to be a point of emphasis in the contest. While it is unknown if the Knicks will trap him as Carter suggested, it is safe to assume he will be marked throughout given his range and ability to score from anywhere on the floor.
