A report has recently surfaced pertaining to the New York Knicks looking into the possibility of trading down in the upcoming NBA Draft.
According to ESPN's Jonathan Givony and Mike Schmitz, the Knicks do not appear to be a hundred percent committed on using the third overall pick — a spot that many believe ought to be used on Duke forward RJ Barrett — and are currently exploring the option of trading away this pick.
Barrett is scheduled to work out for New York on June 10. As I reported from the combine: Although sources say Barrett would be excited about landing in New York, the Knicks planned to do their due diligence by making calls on trade options and evaluating other prospects in the top 10.
And in recent weeks, the Knicks have been considering a number of alternative scenarios with the No. 3 pick that don't involve Barrett, according to multiple sources.

New York had high hopes entering the draft lottery, with their sights set on the first overall pick and Zion Williamson. However, this obviously did not come to fruition, which has forced them to reassess their options.
If the above rumor is true, then it seems that the Knicks are not too high on Barrett — or perhaps even projected fourth pick Jarrett Culver — and they would be much more interested in dangling their No. 3 pick on the trade market.
Should they pull the trigger on the potential deal, the Knicks should get a ton of value in exchange for the highly-coveted pick, and this asset will definitely prove to be pivotal in whatever direction New York decides to take this summer.
