It seems that highly touted draft prospect RJ Barrett has already come up with his shortlist of NBA teams he wants to play for. As a matter of fact, this has turned out to be an extremely short list, with just a single team on there for the former Duke standout — the New York Knicks:

While this decision may come off as a bit too self-assured for the promising 18-year-old, it actually makes a lot of sense.

The top three picks in the upcoming draft are pretty much already set in stone, with Barrett's Blue Devils teammate Zion Williamson going first overall (New Orleans Pelicans) and Murray State point guard Ja Morant expected to be selected at No. 2 (Memphis Grizzlies).

With the Knicks holding the No. 3 pick, they are widely expected to select Barrett, who is considered to be the third-best player in the draft. With this selection almost a certainty (barring a trade) it makes sense for Barrett to no longer waste his time over meetings with other teams he won't be playing for anyway, and instead just focus on his preparations for the draft.

Barring any major turn of events, the Knicks should pick up an absolute gem in Barrett, who averaged 22.6 points (on 45.4 percent shooting),  7.6 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.4 blocks as a freshman last season.

He should fit in well in head coach David Fizdale's system, and absolutely has the makings of a future cornerstone superstar for the Knicks.
