Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Kwon Alexander suffered a season ending torn Achilles during today's game against the Green Bay Packers, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin mentioned to reporters that Kwon Alexander's injury was a serious lower body injury, and it is not looking promising, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. It is a significant loss for the Steelers,  who are already dealing with the loss of linebacker Cole Holcomb for the rest of the season.

The linebacker room will be thin, and the depth will have to step up to help the Steeler and Mike Tomlin sustain the level of play from the unit so far this season.

The Steelers have been outgained in every game so far this year, including today's win against the Packers, but they are 6-3 in spite of that fact. It is an impressive job by Mike Tomlin and the coaching staff to be in this position with the roster they have overall.

Over the next two weeks, the Steelers will be tested with Kwon Alexander out of the lineup, along with Cole Holcomb. The Steelers will be facing division rivals in the Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals on the road over the next two weeks.

It will take some big efforts to get a win against either the Browns or the Bengals. Pittsburgh beat Cleveland at home earlier in the season, but the Browns are coming off of a road win against the Baltimore Ravens. The Steelers have not played the Bengals yet this season.

It will be worth watching to see how the Steelers deal with the absence of Alexander.
