The Pittsburgh Steelers just can't catch a break. The team is taking a blow Sunday as Steelers linebacker Kwon Alexander is the latest player on the team to exit a game due to injury. Alexander left the Steelers game against the Packers after hurting his leg, per ESPN.

The loss of Alexander, an inside linebacker, is even harder for the team to stomach since last week the team lost another linebacker, Cole Holcomb. Holcomb is out for the season due to a knee injury. Alexander was sent in to replace him, and lasted just a game before going down for Pittsburgh. Alexander won't be returning to the game for the Steelers against the Packers Sunday, per ESPN.

Alexander was showing signs of promise for the Steel Curtain defense, with 41 combined tackles for the team this season. Alexander also had an interception earlier this season in a win for the Steelers over the Titans. He had signed with the Steelers during training camp, and was expected to work behind Holcomb on shoring up that Steelers defensive unit throughout the year.

It didn't work out as expected. Holcomb is now on injured reserve after leaving last week's game against the Titans with his injury. Holcomb had logged 54 tackles for the Steelers defense and forced two fumbles this year.

Now both linebackers are down, and the Steelers defense must rely on Mark Robinson and Elandon Roberts to pick up the slack. The Steelers and Packers are locked in a tight battle at the time of writing, with the Steelers leading by four in the fourth quarter of the game.

The Steelers are 5-3 on the season.
